Annual Holiday Club Celebration & 60-Year Anniversary!

Date: (TBD)

Location: (TBD)

The entire club comes together to celebrate the Holiday Season every year on the first Wednesday of December. This year, the LRC Holiday Party has been scheduled for December 7 at the Tacoma Country & Golf Club. We will also be celebrating our 60-year anniversary with special door prizes at the party! Cocktail Hour will start at 5:00pm with a cash bar, followed by a delicious dinner at 6:00pm. The dress code is festive / cocktail / business casual / semi-formal. Essentially, dress up to your comfort level, but no ripped jeans.

All attendees must RSVP by November 21st as we do have limited seating of 240 people. Please RSVP by contacting the pro shop staff or by replying to the "LRC Holiday Celebration & 60th Anniversary Dinner December 7th 5pm" email. The cost is $45 per person. It will be different than past functions in that we will not be charging every member whether they go or not.

Halloween Celebration

Date: (TBD)

Halloween is on Monday, so come celebrate with us for a night of spooky fun! We will be hosting social tennis 5:00-6:30pm followed by a potluck in the lounge. Don't forget to bring your favorite frighteningly delicious dish! This is fun night open to all ages, so bring your little ghouls and goblins to trick or treat! We encourage everyone to wear costumes (though not required), and will have prizes for multiple categories. This will be a terrific night of tennis, trick or treats, and tasty things to eat!

Member Appreciation Celebration

Annual Event in Summer: Date TBD

Fun activities for all LRC members and their guest.  Outdoor tennis, Pickleball, Swimming Pool, Challenge Course and Competition will be organized throughout the event.  Appetizers and BBQ will be hosted by volunteer members.  Look for more information in the coming months.

Letter From LRC Board President - Terry Wright

Letter from your Board President – Terry Wright

Dear Members – Your LRC has Board is busy making plans for the Holiday Party, Wednesday, December 7 at the Tacoma Country Club. Staff will be calling each member over the next two weeks to explain the available menu, cost, and to obtain a “head-count” for attendance. Since we are also celebrating the 60-year anniversary of the club, the Board is also requesting that members dig through their old photos of the club and/or club activities, and provide copies or originals, that staff can copy, directly to Bruce, or staff at the front desk.

Also coming up very soon are the elections for Board positions – there are three positions up for election this year. If you are interested in competing for one of those positions, then please notify our Election Committee Chair, Chris Fynboe (ccfynboe@cs.com) and provide a short paragraph about your background and why you would like to be on the Board. Members are also needed to participate in all of the Board Committees. Please contact any Board member, Committee Chair or Bruce if you would like to participate on any Committee.

The Board is continuing to implement our policy of linking LRC monthly dues with the U.S. Consumer Price Index. Beginning January 1, 2023, LRC monthly dues will increase by 8.7% to $147 for a Senior Single membership. Other categories of dues will also be increased by 8.7%.

A short update on the project to add additional indoor courts at LRC, is that the City of Lakewood voted to proceed with the zoning change requested by LRC that is required before we can move forward to build courts.

Keeping with our theme of our member owned club functioning better when the members are engaged, the Board is requesting assistance from those using the ball machine to remove dead-balls each time they use the machine and take them to the front desk for recycling. We believe that this is a more efficient way to keep the balls in the machine fresh.

Wishing you all good Health, Wealth and Wisdom
